Epidural Injection

What is an Epidural Injection?

An Epidural Injection is an injection of local anaesthetic and/or steroid into the epidural space. The epidural space lies within the bony ring of the spinal column, just outside the fluidā€filled sac that surrounds the spinal cord and nerve roots.


Please ensure the following steps are followed. They will serve to prepare you for your examination and/or procedure.

  • Appointment required for this procedure
  • If you take Warfarin or other blood thinning agents, you will need to notify our staff as this may require cessation or blood tests prior to the procedure
  • You will be asked to sign a consent form
  • You are not able to drive home, therefore you must organise a driver
